A meditation bench is by far the best solution for whom cross-legged sitting does not feel comfortable, but seiza sitting (with your knees forward and your feet back) does.

The bench slopes slightly forward, tilting your pelvis slightly and allowing you to sit upright for long periods of time without getting tired.
